Phineas X. Jones' work for Three Floyds Evilpower Pils
(Munster, IN) – Quick update on this beer…
Last week, I posted this mystery photo relating to a “Chicago area brewery,” from artist, Phineas X. Jones. Is it for merchandise? Is it a beer label? We didn’t know what it was at the time.
“It’s for Evilpower Pils brewed with 3Floyds & Lair of the Minotaur”
Beyond that, there isn’t much info but Lair of the Minotaur will be playing at Dark Lord Day. Perhaps we will see this released at the event or around that time.
Video below may or may not be a bit graphic and contains some nudity. Cheers!

(Munster, IN) – A few announcements tonight on one of craft beer’s biggest parties of the year.
Three Floyds Brewingupdated its website with some preliminary details regarding this year’s Dark Lord Day event. Here are a few highlights:
The event will take place on Saturday, April 30th.
These tickets will tentatively go on sale on March 17th. The time of the sale is yet to be announced.
The biggest change for this year is that a ticket will be required to attend the event. This ticket will also guarantee bottle allocation. Regrettably, changes have to be made to ensure the longevity of the event, safety and shorter lines. Without the ticket, there will be no admission to the premises. More information on ticket sales will be made available in the coming weeks.
It’s worth noting that March 17th is St. Patrick’s Day, a tradition the brewery is continuing from prior years.
Three Floyds’ “Minister of Propaganda,” Lincoln Anderson, was on Beer Advocate answering questions on Friday night.

(Munster, IN) – Three Floyds Brewing just claimed its fourth title in five years.
RateBeer.com announced its annual awards today, naming the Indian regional brewery #1 in the world for 2010. The designation is part of an analysis of nearly three million ratings by site members, according to RateBeer’s Joe Tucker.
The last time Three Floyds was ranked outside of the top two was 2003.
Founders Brewing out of Michigan replaced California’s AleSmith Brewing as the #2 brewery and Cigar City Brewing repeated in the #3 slot among U.S. brewers.
Russian River Pliny the Younger replaced Cigar City’s Boubon Barrel Aged Hunahpu’s Imperial Stout as the #1 beer in the United States. Pliny the Younger was not even in the top 50 last year so its appearance among the top beers comes as a surprise. It will be released just in time for Super Bowl Weekend.
Grabbing top positions in the new brewery category were Vermont-based Hill Farmstead Brewery and Maryland-based Stillwater Artisanal Ales.
Sweden’s Närke Kulturbryggeri was named the top international brewery and also grabbed the title for the world’s best beer with its imperial stout, Närke Kaggen Stormaktsporter. Westvleteren 12 held the top spot last year. Närke is currently not available in the U.S.
Similar to the 2009 results, 35 of the 50 top-ranking beers in the competition are imperial stouts.

(Munster, IN) – Three Floyds Brewing got two new label approved for bottles.
Three Floyds Arctic Panzer Wolf is an Imperial IPA that debuted on tap early last fall at some different spots. Now it will be available in 22 oz. bombers for the first time. The artwork is based on the Death to False Prophets mural on the wall at the brewery (happens to be where they are doing some barrel-aging).
Beer description: “A dry and stupendously hopped medium bodied Imperial IPA brewed with Canadian two-row malt, dextrose sugar and lots of American hops. Arctic Panzer Wolf has superior aromas of marmalade, white wine, pine and apricot all mixed with an intense American hop bitterness.”
And then there’s Three Floyds Blackheart IPA which will be featuring a new label soon. This beer has been previously released by the brewery in 22 oz. bottles.
No release date for these have been announced yet.
